Elica Rivera Carballo

After Benaki
After wrapping yourself with fabrics
After holding the dirt
The absolute beauty of achieving your goals, it's part of constructing life in the most unexpected way.

“Constante Libertinaje envuelve tu ser y hazlo salvaje.”

Make your movement yell at the world
Make it grow, transform, make it feel
That life it's full of performing and smiling at time..
Life is a teacher, Life prepare us, Life goes on. Its what you do with it, what you are its the only thing you need.

Final Stages of Preparation

Intruder - Bodies entering the space in different levels of the skin space and Platea. Explore the space with the body.
Unit - Bodies meet at a distance.
Unknown - Individual exploration of the new element, The Fabric.
Unknowingly parts- Exploration of the fabric only showing the limbs and extremities.
Sculptural Entities - Two entities unite forming a whole. Sculptural feel.
Deformation- Two bodies meet as human bodies, two entities are still evolving.
Escape - Entities turn to bodies, bodies escape.

My connection with this experience was a very nice about the collaboration working with Paola, because the ideas and representative images that we wanted to present were very similar. We work with the communication and negotiation through all the ideas and decisions of the performance, while making and unmaking. Collaborate is part of communicate ideas and being a entity prepared for listening other ideas and gave an approach to these new experimental business. Working with the space was a great thing to learn how much and possible can your ideas and concepts can be translated it into space. How can i performance not for the ideas, but for the space? When your work it's all about the space you need to really practice in it and feel the movement through it.

Second Rehearsal

We had time to transform the new ideas and practice them with the fabrics, In the matter on presenting our concept to the audience we had to decide where’s gonna be placed. The movements we were creating for the fabrics we’re very interesting, but one of the constructive critique I receive from this second rehearsal was: To give time, to see the movement exploring the different shapes that are created when we were all covered with them.
Also created movements in a slow temple to combined the fabrics and gave time to the audience to really appreciate the movement in terms of quality and reaching as far as possible in the space.

Using the resistance of the fabric was a very good idea, when I try to run out of axis look good and it feel good, it was hard to work with all this resistance and still make slow movement but I enjoy being part of the fabric.

don't "drop" the actions that you do
to go somewhere else.

First Rehearsal

The main idea of crossing the skin space with the fabrics did not work, it was a very wide space that it could not be cover with the fabric as I visualized it. The fabrics are useful with the elasticity perfect to create the ideas that we had (Paola & I) Also we arranged new tasks and ideas to the second part of the performance.
In this first day at the Benaki, the Architect & Choreographer; Vicky Spanovangelis was so helpful with some details like cleaning up the transitions of the piece and to make sure about what tasks we were planning to do for setting up the time and duration of the performance.

My name is Elica Rivera Carballo, I 'm 22 years old and I'm from Puerto Rico. This semester I'm decided to studyabroad on
As an artist my process of exploring movement in my body has been a analytical and introspective one. I think is very esencial when we're working with our creativity with no need to forget what we've already created. One  Thing that I'm always warn of, is the fact that my thoughts do not control mind at the moment of making a choreography or the process. Make myself known in the space like anThat's why meanings will help me as
